B&B Cafe Menu

SO disappointing. I have tried twice and will never go back. The first time I asked for crispy bacon with eggs over medium and the cinammon roll french toast. When the server brought the food the limp bacon was hanging off the edge of the plate, the whites of the eggs were liquidy and the cinammon roll tasted as if it had been dipped in egg batter but had never hit the grill. I sent it back only to get the bacon nearly burned and the rest of the food just like it had been served before. The second time I went with my husband and 3 out of 4 items on his plate were wrong-the toast hadn't been toasted at all, limp bacon again and underdone eggs. A gentleman brought out the washed silverware from the kitchen and proceeded to grab it all by the part you put in your mouth and loaded it to a basket behind the counter. If this is being done in the front of the restaurant with people looking on I can't imagine what goes on where we can't see. This used to be a Castle Rock institution but is sadly awful now.

I am addicted to B&B's green chili. My most recent discovery is the huevos rancheros. And now when I go here, I order it every time. I have had this dish all over town, and this place has the best green chili hands down.

I've probably eaten here 20 times, and I've never had anything less than a stellar breakfast every time. They cook their eggs perfectly, and every dish is wonderful. I don't usually give out 5 stars, but this place earns it for food. Service is adequate, but bring cash! They don't take credit cards.

They do breakfast the way I like it at the B&B! Perfectly cooked eggs every time, greasy bacon, and plentiful coffee. One of the best diner-style breakfasts around! They are usually packed on weekend mornings, so come early or be prepared for a wait. I've never been for anything other than breakfast, and never order beyond a bacon and eggs style brekkie. But for that, I love love love it! The location and building are filled with charm....but there's nothing cutsey about the B&B. It feels about as authentic as they come! Also, they have a big toy basket in back for kids to amuse themselves with. Our 4 year old loves going to the basket and picking out a toy to bring to the table, and we love the peace and quiet that toy basket brings!

As the reviews state the huevos rancheros are pretty good. My wife ordered the cinnamon roll which took about 30 mins to come and then when it did finally get there it was still frozen in the middle. They did give us the roll for free because of it. Cash only

This placei is a testament to how low the standards are in Colorado. If this were Texas this place would have closed DAY ONE. Mediocre food, greasy, hit or miss service, unreasonable prices for the simple food.

Food was ok. The place was dirty and the service was slow.

Fantastic old diner! I'd probably classify it as a 'greasy spoon' so the rough edges are part of it's charm. I've only eaten here for breakfast (many many times) and it's great. Biscuits and gravy, corned beef hash, or chorizo are all good. Eggs and bacon are always done right. Coffee is good. The building is historic (late 1800's) and there's some info about it on the menu including a colorful story of how a bullet hole got in the ceiling which is still there to see. It gets quite busy there, but the line usually moves quite fast. The service is good. BEWARE that they don't take credit cards!!!! I've found my self walking to the ATM and back really fast so I can pay. The closest ATM is not at all convenient either.

A nice family owned and operated restaurant. We went for breakfast and it was delicious! The servers were friendly and helpful. Prices were pretty cheap for the food you get. Just be careful since they only accept cash or check. No credit/debit cards. That's the only reason I gave it 4 stars instead of 5.

LEAVE YOUR CREDIT CARDS, THE B&B ONLY ACCEPTS CASH! Small town character, home cooked goodness and a must if you're a biker. They have a great bar area, good hot coffee and fairly quick service. The fairly quick service is part of their character :-) I've only had breakfast at B&B - and what I normally order is chorizo and eggs (no cheese) and I think its pretty darn good. I'm half Mexican, I grew up eating authentic Mexican - so I call myself an authority on the subject. They serve a green chili with the meal - that's pretty good if you want to smother your eggs with it. A little on the pricey side - but still definitely worth it in my opinion. the building has a lot of history to it too - read the newspaper clippings they have hung on the wall, ask your server about the history of the building or start up a converstation with one of the old timers that frequent the B&B. I've only had ONE time when the service was well below standard - and I think the guy just was having a bad day is all... Check it out - I don't think you'll be disappointed.

I met my family here as a middle point between COS and DEN...I chose the spot from reviews here on YELP! We loved it! It was authentic! The burritos were tasty! The cinnamon roll was most memorable!!! The coffee was okay (don't expect lattes). All 8 of us cleared our plants. The service was friendly! And the bill was LOW!

While I did not have the chance to eat here, because I did not have cash, the service was great. We had an Arnold Palmer and shared that we did not have a check or cash after seeing at the top of the menu that they don't accept credit cards. When we tried to pay for drinks but were told they were on the house and to come back, which we will do next time but with cash.

The coldest food in the WEST! Spent $47 dollars (plus tip) for a family of four to get the coldest "hot" breakfast in my life! The coffee was terrible, the French toast was old and cold, the Huevos Rancheros was positively cold and tasteless, even the freshly cooked eggs (over easy) were cold as they were bathed in the cold green chile sauce which was also tasteless. The worst breakfast ever by far! BUT...the service was fast and friendly!

As another review stated, you either love it or hate it. Though hate is strong word, we definitely were bummed to have selected B & B for breakfast. The coffee was more of a brown tinged water. Much too weak! My companion and I both requested our Huevos Rancheros gluten free since flour tortillas were the only option (kind of lame, but no big deal). Then the waitress came out with our order, plopped down the entrees and simply stated that the chef forgot to omit the flour tortillas. There was no offer to replace it, not even a hint of an apology for the mistake. It was definitely one of those moments when it feels less risky to chance gastric upset than to return the order. So we worked around the tortillas. The remainder of the Huevos plate was okay - just eggs, cheese, and mediocre green chile. The waitress didn't return until it was time to pay. She did notice our brown water and regular water had been long gone and offered refills, but by that time we were just happy to be on our way. The food and overall service would have gotten a 2-star, but another star is fallen for messing up gluten and not making it right.

A local favorite that is known for their Green Chili... I've never had anything that wasn't good at B&B. They are only open for breakfast and lunch and you should be prepared to wait on a weekend morning. They are very busy for good reason. The restaurant is located in a historic store front that still has the original ceiling from the early 1900's and a beautiful stone bar. You'll go for the good and you'll go back for the experience. Be Warned: This place doesn't take credit cards - just cash and checks. Also, they will be closing in 2009 and moving to a new location, possibly not in Castle Rock.

What a choice place for a dip in breakfast in land if you happen upon the unfortunate circumstance of being stuck in Castle Rock, Colorado (okay it's my home town). So, if the aforementioned happens to you, sir, stop by mos. def. It's kind of like a cafe in which Ghost World characters would spend time joshing Satanists and checking out want-ads. You may also check a most satisfying and typical greasy spoon breakfast, featuring toast and eggs. BUT I think you can have a good time playing around with utensils and tearing up small packages of sugar.

One of the most popular Castle Rock restaurants with small-town flavor. We love it for breakfast and lunch. They have some good Mexican dishes on the menu. Overall I recommend this local favorite.

Amazing!!! Enough said. The Injured Food Guy!!! Apparently my review is on the short side so I added this to make it longer!!!

This is the first time we've been in downtown Castle Rock. We didn't even know Castle Rock had a downtown. The B&B Cafe came recommended from family around the area and we loved it. It's a cute little cafe and I'm glad it's still very clean. Yes, that's a big deal for me. We had the turkey club and the breakfast burrito. First off, the portions are massive. I usually eat A LOT and I could barely finish my turkey club. My fiancée had the breakfast burritos and it was very good along with the chili. The only thing we would say is to add more chili next time and less cheese. I usually love cheese but we really wanted to taste more of the chili in the breakfast burrito vs the cheese but like I said before, all in all it was very good and we would come here again. We also loved how they had the history of the cafe on the table card so we can search for things around the cafe after we stuffed our faces.

A great place for brunch! We both had the Wrap it Up smothered burrito and spicy bloody Mary's - both equally delicious! We will definitely come back.

Amazing service fantastic food. Bob, the is always present and has a positive attitude even if the computers are giving his staff fits. We ate there this morning and had their fruit and yogurt and granola which was fantastic. We also ate there whole-grain pancakes with granola and fruit and it was delicious. I highly recommend going and having a good breakfast or lunch. The staff is fantastic friendly and professional.

Wish I had read reviews before we went. Server was forgetful. She was lovely and personable, but she couldn't remember anything. Not one thing we asked for was given on the first request. Maybe she had too many things going. Drinks, condiments, to go box, etc. my companion asked for hamburger well done. It was raw- actively bleeding. She requested that it be cooked to well done, it came back medium rare. I don't think they value their customers.

Great food and excellent service. Their cinnamon rolls are amazing. Huge portions and a great value for the money. This is the best breakfast place in Castle Rock

While in town, I came here...twice. Both times I ordered the Old Fashioned breakfast. The first time better than the second. We were initially quoted a wait time of 15-20 minutes but ended up getting right in. You should probably expect a wait at a brunch spot on a Saturday morning. Eggs over medium - check. Bacon - GLORIOUS Wheat toast - fresh and thick slices Potatoes - bit of a let down. They appear to be cut into french fries but then grilled. The second time mine came out looking more fried without seasoning and dehydrated in contrast to my first experience with tender potatoes complete with seasoning. I guess I just wish they were crispy on the outside while remaining grilled. Coffee - strong and better than expected We were given a sample of the Green Chile and it was fantastic Gentleman next to me ordered french toast and it looked heavenly... I don't even like french toast. Menu has gluten free portion on it. Overall prices were moderate and service was good enough.

The food was great but it was the service that will keep me coming back. MJ, I believe it was, was our waitress and she was the best. She was so friendly and so sweet and even told us some funny jokes. Don't even get me started about the pies, so awesome they are homemade by someone in house. Better than Village Inn! Can't wait to go back.

Our experience at B&B cafe was okay. Not my favorite place. I like Great Beginnings Cafe better and it has the same owner. My boyfriend prefers this place. So just goes to show everyone has their own taste. My Denver omelet was not amazing but was not bad either. At both locations I just love the potatoes. I felt like we were slightly ignored and our waitress was more interested in helping her other tables when we came here. So all in all our experience was not bad but not as good as when we went to Great Beginnings.

Bad food in a once beloved restaurant by the same name. The location and atmosphere are awesome - just need to work on the food because it hurts going all the way down. Love to see this place rebound!

B&B changed ownership last year, and I finally had the opportunity to try them out again this past weekend. I felt it was necessary to update my review since it was based on previous ownership, and a lot has changed. The inside of B&B is much the same, and actually a lot nicer. Things have been spruced up and painted, and it's actually very comfortable and cute. I agree with other reviewers that there were too many staff mulling around, not seeming to move fast or do much. Worst was a guy that actually may have been the manager, who just sat in the back by our table yelling at other staff - loudly - all during our meal. It was very annoying. Unfortunately the food was really unimpressive. I ordered the Southern breakfast - a biscuit with gravy, eggs, bacon and potatoes and it was horrible. The biscuit and gravy was cold, doughy and completely bland and flavorless. Even the sausage in the gravy was completely devoid of flavor - they were just gray pieces of tasteless meat, which totally turned me off. The bacon was so limp and droopy I wondered if it had been cooked enough. The potatoes were the weirdest thing -- they were red potatoes cut like French fries, barely cooked and super oily. The scrambled eggs were okay, but nothing to write home about. Overall it was greasy, bland, and I couldn't even finish one item on my plate. It was very disappointing. My husband had the breakfast burrito which came with refried beans on the side, which seemed a bit weird for breakfast but they were pretty good. Inside the burrito was okay too, except he had loads of the same undercooked, oily potato "french fries" that he didn't enjoy either. At least his sausage had flavor - unlike the sausage in my gravy. The only bright spot to our breakfast was the coffee and the service we received from our waitress, Kerry. She was so friendly and kept our cups filled with the tasty coffee. If not for her I don't know if i could even justify one star. I'm sad that such a local institution has fallen as far as they have. I will give them some time and maybe try them again. Hopefully they work out these issues before our next visit.

This is a landmark and historic staple for our community. It is disappointing to see this landmark so mismanaged and un-cared for. The general cleanliness of dining area is very bad, but we looked past that since it is a "legend". The staff was sitting next to us, eating their food while wrapping silverware, after they would lick their fingers I would like to add. The food was good, but it does not hit the spot after witnessing all I did during the extended wait time to receive the food. I may return just to see if maybe it was an "off day" but if more of the same is found, I will definitely not return.

we stopped in for a weekday brunch, wasn't too busy, and our server Reily was super nice, she was just the right amount of attentive.. not overbearing but made sure we were had what we needed. we both ordered a Benedict. I had the florentine Benedict with ham instead of bacon, she had the California. very rich hollandaise sauce and perfectly poached eggs. we will definitely be back.

This place was ok. I like the history and the classic old barback and counter. The food was ok...service was a bit slow at the counter. I'll try ordering something more exciting next time.

I have to say... Disappointed again. I try to go local for most of the things we do in Castle Rock, but B &B just doesn't get it done. Upon our arrival ( my 2 year old son and I), it took a couple of minutes to be acknowledged by anyone. Once we were, the young girl told us they'd be right with us as she continued to make small talk with some people at the counter. After several minutes we were eventually sat by someone else. The service was fine from that point forward, but the food is less than stellar. We ordered the kids French Toast Stix and a standard egg breakfast for me. I will say that it came quickly ( too quickly as you will see in a moment). The French Toast was deep fried ( not mentioned on the menu), which to me was lazy and clearly unhealthy. Not something I would normally choose for my little one. He took one bite and as the grease oozed out, he was done. As far as my bacon and eggs... I ordered them over medium and they came extra runny (even the whites were not cooked) with mostly raw bacon. I would have given them the benefit of the doubt if it was busy, but this was a Monday morning and the restaurant was over half empty. It's just not that hard to cook bacon and eggs... Again, always wanting to support small businesses, I was hoping for something better. I guess Castle Rock will continue to wait for a quality breakfast joint. Snooze or Jelly's where are you??

This place is terrible. We ordered Bloody Mary's and there were literally just tomato juice and hot sauce. No vodka at all. I got the old fashioned. The eggs were medium when I asked for over easy. The bacon was disgusting. Like it had been cooked 2 days ago. The potatoes which were like French fries were half burned half not cooked at all and doused in oil. Our waitress who seemed like a 12 year old was awful. Rarely checked on us. Even had to ask for my water to be refilled as it sat clearly where she could see it empty. My friend got the skillet. She said it was gross. I don't recommend this place. First and last visit.

We were at B&B today. It's been awhile since we have been there and remember it being good. But today, honestly it was the worst breakfast I have ever eaten. Had eggs over easy, bacon and fries - the Old Fashioned. Eggs runny, fries were terrible. tasted as if they were fried in old oil, some looked as if not fully cooked, bacon had odd taste as well. I tried two potatoes and left the rest. Server was friendly, but wait time for food was too long. Not sure what happened since our last visit there a year or so ago, but will not return.

    (1)
  • Greg U.

Not good. Food was cold, service was slow. All our meals were cold and the Bacon was old, like it was cooked the day before! YUCK!!! Come on B&B get it together!!!

  • Corey H.

This has been our "go-to" for breakfast since we moved to Castle Rock! We love breakfast at B and B! We have a toddler and they are always SO accommodating! Everyone is so sweet to him and they never blink an eye when we custom order him food. They have the BEST bacon and the cinnamon rolls are amazing! All the portions are huge and we've never been disappointed when we try new things! My favorite is Mr. Bauer's breakfast, it's a great way to start your day!

    (5)
  • Charlotte C.

No one bothered to greet us when we arrived. Man at the front acted annoyed when I asked for a table for 4. Acoustics in restaurant are terrible. Way too loud to have any kind of conversation with your lunch guests. Lettuce & tomato side plate for my child had a bug on it and the waitress just laughed when she removed it from our table. Hamburger meat in my Popper burger was burned to a crisp. Waitress returned only my drinks and not the $10.00 poor hamburger! Would not be a repeat customer.

  • Eric O.

I have been here several times over the past few years and it has always been a decent breakfast spot. Since new ownership and the last time I was there the food was not great. It was once a favorite breakfast spot of mine in Castle Rock, no longer the case. The food was below average, I had sausage patties with my breakfast, and they disgusted me, soft, not meat like, and no flavor whatsoever. B&B has fallen in the ranks from a pretty good little divey diner to a not so good, food or service, casual restaurant.

    (2)
  • Steve S.

Went here for breakfast. I ordered the eggs Benedict and it was bland unless you like super lemony hollandaise sauce.. The ham was way too thick for my liking. The hash browns were oddly sliced red potatoes and exceptionally oily. I tried a bite of my wifes sausage link and that too was bland. Our waitress seemed aloof and more interested in chatting with other customers.

Classic Car Show in Downtown Castle Rock, and Lunch at Castle Rock's B&B Cafe with the family. Great food and service. Rob (the owner) and staff are awesome! Love this town!

  • Tiffany H.

Not a good experience. * both our orders were wrong * the wait staff was loud and obnoxious and made it almost impossible to have any kind of conversation * had to ask for refills on coffee * Pablo in the kitchen was clearly rude and mean This was our first and last visit.

  • Glitter_Girl ..

This place is delicious as long as you dont go when they are busy, the staff is easily over whelmed. We went and it took us 20 minutes just to get drinks. Then when we go our food it was so cold. The "toast" was more like frozen butter on a piece of hard bread. We ONLY go if its early in the morning or late afternoon otherwise the food/staff is not great.

  • Cyn C.

Ok so when I first moved to castle rock I attempted to eat at this place and was very disappointed the food was awful I recently went back as a friend reassured me I would not be disappointed if I tried it again. Needless to say I did enjoy the menu this time around, I'm not sure what was different but the service was good and I will be returning, don't go off first impressions!

  • Erick B.

So this is our first time at B&B and we had a good experience. We started with the cinnamon roll while we waited for our meals. I had the Southerner which is quite filling. Home made frenchfry hash browns 2 eggs and biscuit with gravy and choice of bacon or sausage. Get the bacon, thick, big peices. My wife and daughter both got a Wrap it up burrito. Be ready for this bc they are as big, if not bigger, than dinner smothered burritos. Great service, Barb was very attentive. Place was at 50% capacity but not loud. If you leave hungry, it's your fault.

  • Nick C.

I'm a little confused at the negative reviews for this place, B&B is fantastic. I stopped in here on a Monday morning and ordered the "Colorado" eggs benedict. It was delicious, well proportioned, and perfectly cooked. The service was wonderful and my girlfriend and I were greeted with a warm genuine smile (which can be difficult at 8 am on a Monday) and our coffee was never empty. I will come back here any chance I get.

  • Jay K.

Great place for breakfast. I had the Jaun and Only. Two eggs smothered in pork green chili, home fries, and refried beans. A huge plate of food. The green chili was very tasty and the home fries cooked perfectly with a nice brown in them. Everything tasted freshly made.

  • Tony B.

Food is good. Well prepared and presented. Staff is friendly. Seems understaffed, as I saw people waiting to get a table, when there were plenty of open tables. Some folks even ended up leaving before being seated because the wait was so long. Enjoy any coffee or water you get because you won't get a refill.

  • Jeff K.

Although 8 employees were wandering around (plus 4 standing in the kitchen) we could not get an order placed. We were sitting at the counter while they filed past or loitered around the register and computer but had to ask to be served. Really bad start. I spotted the "patty melt" on the menu and stopped there. How could you go wrong? Fair or not, if you fail at a patty melt there's not much further to fall. After all; a patty melt is a pretty simple formula. (You're running through the recipe in your mind right now, aren't you.) Okay, my fault...I should have read "their description" of a patty melt which would not be considered a patty melt by any reasonable person that's every had one. Theirs is an overcooked burger with cheddar cheese & grilled onion bits, between toast. I hate it when the cheese isn't melted, and by the way, who doesn't grill a patty melt anyway? Can't get served + what ever that was + never refilled water (at the counter?) + (big pet peeve) have to get up to ask for the ticket = mediocre food and worse service ever.

  • Jennie D.

Just ok...came in alone on a Friday morning at 8:30 and it was very busy. I ordered the french toast with eggs, potatoes and sausage. Scrambled eggs were not fully cooked and everything was pretty bland. If I cam we back I'd order something different.

  • Barb M.

We ate here for the first time last weekend. There's not a lot of vegan/vegetarian options for breakfast in Castle Rock, and this place has at least 2 on their menu (the fruit and granola bowl, minus the yogurt, and the vegetarian green chile). We were greeted as soon as we came in the door and the service was friendly and fast. The restaurant was clean and the food we had was good. The people ordering around us seemed happy as well. A lot of the reviews on here are complaining about how the food isn't fancy enough, but this place really is your basic sort of diner, so I'm not sure what they were expecting. If you want a basic breakfast or lunch, and aren't looking for a gourmet meal, this place is great!

Great place to establish a tradition. Taking the kids for Saturday breakfast to a classic Castle Rock eatery.

    (5)
  • Dan D.

The service was terrible. There were a multitude of tables available, but they didn't seat us until after a considerable wait. They have a wait to be seated sign, but none of the employees wanted to handle the job of greeting people as they entered. As I was waiting a couple came in and turned around after nobody greeted them, took names, etc. The food was fine, but two of the four plates weren't accurate. The restaurant was clean. Our waitress was polite, but did not seem to have been trained the necessary tools of being an effective waitress. Refills ignored, the credit card missing from the receipt book after it was ran, and two incorrect orders. It would seem like management is not interested in training their staff.

What a great place to eat... sad they aren't open for dinner. The lunch is fantastic, the service is spectacular. We had a cinnamon roll.... easily one of the best cinnamon rolls I have ever eaten.

They told us it would be a 15 - 20 minute wait, and after 25 minutes they told us we were next. They sat another fours parties ahead of us and we left at the 35 minute mark.

Eaten here for breakfast quite a few times and it is not by choice but more by lack of options in the area. Sure, it beats IHOP and village inn, but so does aunt Jemimah and scrambled eggs. The last time I went was about a month ago. My girlfriend had a basic breakfast and I had an omelet with bacon and veggies. We also ordered an extra pancake to split between us. My girlfriends food came out 5 minutes after mine why? And the pancake didn't come. The waiter said it would be a minute. He came by 5 minutes later and said it would be just another minute it was coming out. I then had to flag him down after i was done with my meal and ask him where it was when he proceeded to ask me "oh do you still want that?". The food is beyond mediocre and can they please just open a snooze in castle rock and get over this nonsense. I don't think that is too much to ask for.

  • Mulcher S.

Well, I like to give places a second chance. I will not return here. The service is appalling. Like my previous experience. On top of that I gave the young waiter crash to pay my bill and he never returned. I guess he assumed his very poor service deserved an extra large tip. Stay away from here if you have ever experienced anything better then mediocre service. The ownership needs to open its eyes or this will soon be on Gordon Ramsey's Kitchen Nightmares.

25 minutes to warm up a cinnamon roll. I asked the waitress, "Is there anything that is readily available to bring out to eat, while we are waiting on our food?" She offered a cinnamon roll, and I agreed. She said she would bring it right away. Now, I'm the type to attempt to "work things out" before signing over a negative review; however, I tried that, to no avail. When I eventually got our waitresses attention after 15 minutes, I asked her, "Did you forget about the cinnamon roll?" She replies, "Don't you realize..." She walked away without completing her sentence. She returned 10 minutes later with the cinnamon roll with our food - epic. No refills on coffee, not "can I get you anything," NOTHING! SERVICE WAS UNPROFESSIONAL, SLOW and the FOOD O.K. for the money, but absolutely nothing to rave about - like taking a trip to the Village Inn.

Stopped in for a late brunch on a Monday - wasn't sure if we wanted eggs or Ruben. Great choices! We opted for the breakfast, I had Southern, husband had full traditional, daughter had eggs benedict all were wonderful. My eggs were fluffy and delicious, the potatoes are great and sausage gravy yummy -- very heavy food but just what we needed on a cold grey day. Service was attentive and responsive, no issue there. Small booths fit four (or three 1/2) comfortably!

My husband and I had to run down to the Springs today, so we decided to swing through Castle Rock to check out the breakfast far at B&B Cafe....plus I had a coupon from the Entertainment Book. It was a win-win stop for us; a great meal AND a coupon. I'm a fan of huevos rancheros and it is almost always my "go to" choice for breakfast. The green chili at B&B had a nice kick -- the perfect mix of spice and flavor. My eggs over medium weren't perfect and my hash browns could have been a little browner, but the excellent service and the great coffee balanced it all out. I drink a lot of water with my meals and not having to wait for a water refill makes a big impression on me. The coffee was fresh tasting and the top-offs were frequent! My husband ordered a side of bacon griddle cakes - holy fluffy pancakes studded with chunks of bacon. Just delicious with a bit of butter melted on top. He preferred his 1/2 of the order with syrup. I liked the atmosphere and you could tell that there were a lot of regulars in there that the wait staff interacted with -- that's a good side in a little locally owned place. I definitely will stop in here next time we are down in the Castle Rock area and look forward to checking out the lunch menu items.

I want so much to love this place. I want it to be so good. The problem is that nearly everything about this place is perfect, except the food. It is AWFUL! The location is perfect...in an historic building in downtown Castle Rock. The place has significant history and the counter/bar is from the turn of the century. The staff is very friendly and prompt. Literally the only thing missing is good food. Granted I've only been for breakfast, but I've been seven times now. If you order bacon, you can pick it up with a knife in the center and the ends will flop over and nearly touch each other. That's how underdone it is. I always remember to order it crispy, and it still comes out close to raw. The breakfast potatoes are so bad that I can't figure out what they are doing. On four of my visits, they have come out cold. On the other three visits, they were lukewarm at best. They also have a texture like they were prepared a month ago and barely reheated when I ordered. The eggs are always underdone, and this last time, my French toast was underdone. I will say that the French toast, when on the griddle long enough, is outstanding! That's the only food they get right in this otherwise lovely place.

Anytime we head south we stop in here for breakfast. Definitely a solid meal and be sure to look for the bullet holes in the front room (lots of history). It is cash only but they take checks too. Good breakfast menu all the general items. We took some friends there too and they all liked their meals.

Tried the new B&B, wasn't hugely impressed. The renovations took all the character out of the building and left it looking like a generic American Midwest Diner. None of the new food caught my eye, and although all our dishes were fine, they were nothing that isn't offered around the corner at Pegasus or Triccoci's as well. Disappointing after years of eating at the original B&B. (The previous owners are now down the block at Triccoci's, as well.)

My husband and I went to B&B for the first time a couple of weeks ago. We have lived in Castle Rock for years and just never went. The pros: The atmosphere was really nice - classic diner. The staff was super friendly and attentive! The cons: The food was horrible. the flavor was so incredibly bland. My husband literally makes better breakfast at home and that is one reason why we never go out to breakfast. Whomever they have in the kitchen needs to go to culinary school....or even watch the Food Network. I have never tasted such horrible basic breakfast foods. The eggs just tasted horrible. The bacon was soft, greasy and a bad flavor too. The pancakes were just ok but NOT as good as my Hungry Jack made at home. The potatoes had a bad flavor too..super oily and undercooked and again no flavor. I hardly ate any of the food. I just cant explain it in words, but the taste of everything was HORRIBLE. We wont be returning and I will continue to love my husband's breakfast at home! NOTE TO OWNERS: Please get some new cooks in there! THEY are your downfall!! They do NOT know how to cook or properly season food!! My husband actually cooks a zillion times better and produces a much better breakfast....at home!! This is why you get one star!

4 stars for food, but 1 star for service. I came in by myself for breakfast and ordered 2 scrambled eggs, sausage links, wheat toast and coffee. I received 2 scrambled eggs, bacon, white toast and coffee. I never saw my server again and had to ask another server to correct my order and refill my coffee. I also asked for a "to go" coffee and never received that until I asked a second time.

The food is pretty good here. The staff could use more training though. They are young and act as such.

Great food. Attentive staff. Very clean bathrooms. New owners allow credit cards. Best breakfast spot in Castle Rock. Cinnamon roll is big enough for 3.

We stopped in for breakfast a really enjoyed the history and old-time atmosphere of this place. Service was good and the coffee was okay. I had the breakfast burrito with chorizo and my wife had huevos rancheros. Food was quite good but not exceptional and they could stand to work on presentation a bit. Would it hurt to add a little color to a plate with some parsley or an orange slice? Bring cash because they don't take credit cards. This is one of my pet peeves and some might think that I make too big a deal out of it but c'mon folks, this is the 21st century!

The Denver omelette was yummy - fresh veggies and was very very tasty . Breakfast Burrito was huge and flavourful. The full plate was huge as well. The southerner was good, chicken was grilled to perfection, the eggs and gravy were wonderful. my only complete is that the biscuit was a bit undercooked and kind of gooey. Service was wonderful and quick... Overall five stars.

I am a SUCKER for biscuits & gravy. I saw it on the menu and don't bother looking at anything else. Massive biscuits covered in delicious country gravy. They were so good, but I could barely put a dent in my meal. My sister ordered banana bread French Toast, which I would have ordered had I bothered to look at the rest of the menu. I snuck a bite, and the French toast was AWESOME! Our waitress was very friendly and attentive. I'll definitely be back to B&B.

Had a very nice experience. I enjoy not being at a chain, and this historic Castle Rock spot provide a nice atmosphere, not to mention the great biscuits and gravy. My son had the huge waffle and took care of it all. Coffee was well above average, which I truly appreciate. Service was friendly and had no delays in service. Definitely going back.

  • Ralph J.

I thought the food was OK and prices were about right. Service left a lot to be desired. It was pretty obvious the waitress was trying to move us along as quickly as she could. When we didn't move fast enough, the waitress finally told us, "guys, I need the table." There were open tables so I can't really explain it. Maybe I missed something but I would be uncomfortable going back.

Used to be good... Now, after the remodel and change in ownership, not so much. Food is very lacking, service even more so. But they do take credit cards now, so that is worth at least a star.

This is one of the best places to eat breakfast in castle rock! My family is very happy we missed breakfast. I recommend the southerner breakfast and a cinnamon roll. :)

I looked at the reviews on here from others and don't understand why so many have complained about the lack of service. Pretty sure people are lying. Because I went here for the first time in august and service was amazing!!! Greeted right away our waiter which I forgot his name was hilarious and personable. Food is excellent as well. Can't wait to come back!!!!

  • Kristen A.

Service was horrible. Food was marginal though I can't get beyond how the whole vibe has changed. The staff just didn't really care. Yes, it's historic but go a couple doors down to Tricocci's where the former owner of B&B has set up shop. You will actually get the great service and food that you want! I used to go to B&B all the time, but no more. Don't waste your time on this.

This place is GREAT. I love the new menu and had great service. The bad reviews are probably from old timers who can't handle change but this place needed change. It's now spotless with an updated and innovative menu that has something for everyone.

  • Laci B.

Not very good. Over cooked burger and dry chicken. Bad service. The food was dropped off after waiting for 30 minutes and no one bothered to ask us if we needed anything else or did they check back to ask how it was. Had they did I would have told them.

We tried this restaurant for the first time today thinking our visiting relatives would enjoy it. Service was so unbelievably slow, food is mediocre at best. I had to leave early after getting just a couple of bites of food because I had a dr appt. We got there at 9:15 and didn't get our food until almost 10:15. It's a Monday, it's not like they were slammed. My sister in laws order was dry toast lacking butter and an overcooked "poached" egg. The waitress didn't even apologize for the slow service and instead blamed it on her tables being changed. I'm sticking with the previous owners restaurant, Tricocci's, with a consistently fabulous menu and great service.

So, the B & B has a new owner, new staff, new floors, new kitchen, new tables, and even new bathrooms...but they forgot something, customer service and tasty food. We went there on a Sunday morning, we only had to wait 10 minutes for a table, however it took over 45 minutes after ordering to get our food. Which is understandable, IF and I say IF our food was even warm! The food was over priced for the amount and taste. My food tasted as if it came straight out of a can, and my kids couldn't eat their bacon even if they wanted since it wasn't cooked and super fatty. I am NOT impressed with the new B & B, and I plan never to return.

  • Scott P.

I love a good breakfast and B&B Cafe has a GREAT breakfast. I had not been to the B&B for almost 2 years. The new owners have made some amazing changes...most importantly the quality of the food. I will definitely be a repeat customer.

We recently moved to castle rock - searching diligently for our next home - OK back to a GREAT breakfast - we have visited this place twice and both times totally valued the cleanliness, excellent service and delicious breakfasts not to mention the ambiance of the 'ol location'. Love the newness/oldness of the place - we will be there tomorrow needing a table for 6!

The biscuits were good, the service was nice, and the food was decent. I had a vanilla shake and it lacked a little flavor and took 20 minutes to make.

This place is great!! I LOVE to bring people visiting Castle Rock here. There is so much town history. Even a bullet hole in the ceiling!!! The prices are really reasonable. I got the egg sandwich with bacon and cheese on multi grain bread. It was delish!! Everyone else at the table ordered bacon pancakes and loved them. I think the egg sandwich will become my regular for sure!!!!!

Confused. We were looking for the old B&B Cafe that we thought had moved. When we arrived, the sign was still outside so we thought we'd try it. Inside they still had the small B&B table placards on the tables. When we walked in, there were several open booths, but a guy finally greeted us and took our name for a wait list? Shortly he sat us in one of the booths. Agree with previous comments they seem disorganized. I think they need a hostess to help run things rather than rely on the wait staff when available. We ordered, my husband got the Denver omelette and I ordered the breakfast burrito. I asked him to substitute the choice of bacon or sausage for ham, which he readily agreed to. Both meals were good, although mine wasn't the usual B&B that I love. When the check arrived, the receipt said Great Beginnings Cafe (or something similar) so I'm not sure where we ate. They had also charged me $.99 for the ham substitution, which I thought was in poor taste given I'd already paid for bacon or sausage and he never said anything.

Thought I'd give it a try last week they should have stayed out of the restaurant business. Very slow service and less than average breakfast.

  • Megan C.

I believe this is the restaurant that donated 100% of proceeds from a special two night dinner hour (they aren't usually open for dinner) to a little girl in need of hearing aids. Other businesses in the area wouldn't even offer 10% of proceeds for ONE DAY. Businesses like this should be rewarded. Even if just for a coffee - visit here and show your support for people who do the right thing!!

    (5)
  • Peter K.

The original! You either love it or hate it. I bring all my out of town visitors here. The Real Castle Rock. Fun. Cinnamon rolls so big they nearly defeat a teenager. For entertainment value, it's always fun seeing 1st timers pulling out their credit cards, and boggling at the concept of cash only.

    (5)
  • Shane G.

Far cry from the original owner! Food is not good! Can't say anything good about the new place! Change the name so others will not expect the great food the B&B used to have!!! Very disappointed foodie leaving today! I was so excited for it to open and now won't be back!

First time to this restaurant and will not be back or recommend to anyone. Went for lunch today, we were ignored for 3 minutes before being acknowledged by 1 of 3 employees who were by the register the entire time. While we were waiting, noticed how dirty the floor was. Seated by the bar, there was a plate of food on it and no one around. Finally saw an employee come and take a couple bites, then go back to work, he did this several times. Another couple with a child came in and before they were seated, the manager (?), poured a glass of Apple juice, drank it, then grabbed menus to seat them....seriously!! I ordered a BLT, when it arrived, it was minus the T but plenty of burned bacon. The only bright spot of our entire visit was our waitress, and she was the only employee that I would compliment. This restaurant has low standards for their staff and their customers, this is not acceptable for a food establishment.

The green chili rocks! Had huevos rancheros with green chili. The only thing wrong with them was they used a flour tortilla. Green chili and eggs go SO MUCH BETTER with corn tortillas.. My friend had corned beef hash. Both were delicious and the hash browns perfect. Fresh coffee and friendly efficient service topped off a great breakfast. Only downsides were hey had run out of orange juice and only serve Pepsi products. We'll be back for sure. Cash or check only!!

I love local places like this! Full of history and locals just chatting it up on a Saturday. I love their English muffins, I don't know if they make their own or what but it is YUMMY. They only take CASH!! Good food, good atmosphere, fast service. too bad they might close soon :(

  • Becky W.

DO NOT patronize the B&B CAFE!! The owner of the building pretty much STOLE the business out from under the owners. PLEASE go a few doors down to the old Hungry Heffer location. THIS is where the REAL owners of the B&B CAFE opened shop. They had to change their name to TRICOCCI'S. Again PLEASE DO NOT PATRONIZE the B&B CAFE

    (1)
  • Sarah P.

The food was good and the service was friendly, but nothing above average. My complaints about B&B Cafe are that they don't take credit cards and there were a lot of flies. I don't know if this was a problem just for the morning I was there or if they are regulars at the cafe. Also, don't list yourself as "good for kids" when you don't offer a kids menu.

    (2)
  • Brent B.

Food is not what it used to be. My breakfast was cold, sent it back samething the second time around. Owner explained how that couldn't happen etc. guess I was lying. Did remove from bill but the atmosphere isn't there anymore and we will not return.

    (1)
  • Phyllis R.

The service was extremely efficient and friendly. We were told to seat ourselves. The coffee was plentiful and they managed to keep up with my husband, which is a feat in itself. Most places can't. My husband loved the bacon and eggs breakfast with scrambled, and I really enjoyed my corned beef hash with eggs over medium. They did the eggs perfectly, with the whites cooked through and the yolks still creamy. The hash browns were crisp and tender. We were even impressed by the toast, which was thick, toasted just enough, slathered with butter and served with both grape and strawberry jam.

  • Natasha S.

Great food and great service. Staff was welcoming and friendly. My mom and I had the Breakfast burrito with green chili sauce, it was tasty like home cooked food. Not sure why people have to give less stars for having to pay in cash. It's a small town cafe with an old time feel. I'll stop by the ATM any day to enjoy the comfort food, ambiance and warm service.

I loved it. Whenever I roll into town I try to find the places that have character and that I could not get back at home. This place is historic and delicious! My whole family had a blast and enjoyed the food. Hope to go back some day!

My first trip in was for lunch, I decided to go with their special for the day... the French Dip. Good sandwich! We had the sides that came with it, including green beans (from a can of course). The atmosphere is unique, nothing fancy here except for maybe their antique bar top. Just the kind of place you'd want to take an out of towner to get a real feel for Castle Rock. I had to try the hashbrowns, despite the time of day because you can really tell a lot about a diner by their hashbrowns! For me, they pass the test and I'm fairly certain that the rest of their food will be on the same level as what I tried. My mom and I split our sandwich, so it was enough food for us both to not feel like we over ate. I will bring my husband back by for sure. Come here expecting diner style food and you won't be disappointed.

B&B is fantastic! Love the food, staff is fantastic. The B&B has new owners, and the menu and food is fantastic! Have to disagree with those who are complaining about food, service, or whatever. While they are entitled to their opinion...they are all gravely mistaken!! I highly recommend the B&B.

    (5)
  • Kerry S.

The B&B has closed, HOWEVER, I heard they just reopened under a new name a few doors down, where Tana Dolce and Branigans used to be. They will be serving dinner as well. I can't wait to try it!

A cup of tea to believe in! Cold day today and a large hot cup of tea and yummy food was just what I needed. This place still had all the small town charm [the pit falls that come with that but they make the place I think] Still worth stopping in if you're in Castle Rock. I think it always will be.

A lot of locals love this place for the simple food, good company and rich history the tiny restaurant has. (Blah, blah, some guy came in and shot the Sheriff in the late 1800s, blah, bullet holes are still in the ceiling and one behind the bar, blah, next door used to be a butchery but now its part of the establishment, blah.) On to the food - I specifically remember really good pie and bean soup when I was child. They have delicious burritos, really awesome avacado chicken salad. Their sandwichs are pretty big, but don't get their fries - their crinkle cut and always soggy. I have zero beef with this place. Granted the food could be a little better for the price, you just can't beat the fun, comfortable feel of the B&B.

  • Phillip P.

Liked breakfast at the newly reopened B&B and tried lunch recently but was very disappointed. Asked for the chicken fried steak that was posted outside the restaurant as a special and the waitress didn't know what we were talking about. Chicken fried steak and salad came on the same hot plate with nothing else...no bread, no choice of vegetable, no choice of salad dressing. Asked for iced tea and was served mango tea. Inquired and waitress said that's what we have and charged us for it even though we didn't drink it. Breakfast is good but lunch is miserable.

  • Chris M.

Loved the atmosphere, cool history of the place, lots of charm... however, I was a little disappointed in the food after reading all the great reviews here. I ordered the breakfast burrito which was just ok, the green chili was actually a little cold.. i.e. not warmed up AND it pretty much had no flavor at all. My daughter wanted a steak sandwich at 10:30... they said no they couldn't give her anything from the lunch menu so she ordered steak and eggs with toast.. "pretty much a steak sandwich". The steak was really tough, again no flavor.. bacon eggs and toast that my husband had were fine.. really what can you do to those to mess them up.. I probably wont be back.. On a bright note, the coffee was actually NOT cheapo farmer brothers and was good. Too bad the other food didn't match up. They do NOT accept credit cards only cash and checks.

So much history in this great old diner. It has a beautiful carved wood bar with marble where you can sit at the counter or alternatively you can sit in one of the two dining rooms. My favorite is to scooch into a booth with the whole family. Lunch with cheeseburgers and malts is a classic way to enjoy a Saturday afternoon. The cheeseburgers are nothing epic but they do satisfy, especially if you wash them down with the incredible homemade malts! Sometimes your server will just slide in next to you and visit for a minute! Perfect small town feeling. The breakfasts are a hit with me thanks to the smothered huevos rancheros covered with melted cheese served with greasy hash browns, just like I like 'em! The coffee refills are constant and served with a smile. The walls are littered with old new paper articles about the town and its history. The ceiling still has bullet holes from a shootout with the town sheriff in the 50s. It is right on main street, Wilcox St., and is a must go for any local or visitor who wants to experience the real Castle Rock.

Green chili was amazing & after reading all the other reviews about their cinnamon rolls we had to give those a try too. And they truly lived up to the hype! Light & flavorful with the perfect amount of cinnamon sugar goodness & sweet syrupy frosting. We had originally planned to split one, but ended up ordering 2 so we could both savor the whole thing! Service was friendly and incredibly fast - we felt like locals even though we were a thousand miles from home!!

Had the bacon pancakes and the sausage and gravy biscuits. The pancakes were very good who does not like bacon! The biscuits were just OK. I like more sausage in the gravy. I would go there again for sure. We love going to small town diners and this fit the bill perfectly.

I finally made it! After driving by this place many times and wanting to go in (home made pie signs...come on), I made it there after a good hike with kids in Castlewood Canyon SP. It was a weekday lunch time slot and there weren't too many in there. I'd say 50% full. Reading the cafe's history on the menu and finding out it's been open since 1899 and seeing a bullet hole in the ceiling, I knew this would be a place I'd like. They have everything from salads to sandwiches to Mexican stuff and some other original dishes. The food ended up being a healthy portion. (And by healthy, I mean big...not actually healthy.) The wait staff couldn't have been nicer or more knowledgeable about the history of the building/cafe. The homemade chocolate cake and homemade ice cream were a great finisher to the meal. After checking out the breakfast menu, I will be back soon. Everything I saw looked so fresh. They even have a toy bin for the little ones.

My mom and I left here completely satisfied for $16.75. She had a hot open-faced roast beef sandwich and mashed potatoes. I didn't try it, but she said it was delicious. I had the smothered bean burrito, which was gigantic and only $5.75. The service here was also really great. And although the bathrooms looked pretty sketchy from the outside, they were really clean and nice. Cute place.

I'm pretty sure this spot is owned by the same people who have Great Beginnings Café in Lone Tree, since the menu is the same. Nice people, very accommodating. Service was a bit slow and they kept forgetting things on our order, but I think this is probably just some new restaurant blues. Green chile is spicy and food was tasty. It did not quite live up to their other restaurant, but I assume that it will in time. Best green chile in Castle Rock for sure. Kept the character of the old B&B, but much nicer staff and they take credit cards. Will probably be our new in town breakfast spot. I'll write a new review after they've had a little time to break themselves in.

Small-town charm, big slice of history. The thing that the B & B pushes is that it's been around since History and that it will continue to be there long after you're not. The disabled may have some trouble getting up the few low stairs into the joint, but there may be an alternate entrance for those so inclined. The service-with-a-smile from the staff that's undoubtedly been there since their teens is good. They'll make sure that tomato stays off your sandwich and that your drinks are topped off. The menu is the main performer here. Items classically American and some Mexican are fried in honest grease, such as fries, tortilla chips, chimichangas and the like. Their portions are not to be scoffed at. One of my favorite meals here is any of the chimis with their excellent green chili sauce. Its platter is dominated by the fried tortilla product and framed with refried beans, Spanish rice and a splotch of sour cream to seal the deal. It's a delicious affair that nearly necessitates a box, even considering my not-so-tiny appetite. An important thing to remember about the B & B is that they're not open very late in the day and that they do not accept any of these new-fangled rectangles of plastic called "credit cards." There is an ATM from a local bank down a block or two that you can pull the necessary monies out of your account, but do yourself the favor and get your green beforehand. I'm not even sure if they take personal checks, either. Perhaps another review can tell you that. The B & B is a fun place to have a leisurely lunch with a few friends. Go there today! Or tomorrow!

The food here is better then a chain but it's not going to blow your mind (except maybe the blueberry pancakes). The coffee taste a little burnt but it's drinkable. The service was fantastic. The only take cash. No credit cards, no debit cards. I might stop in again if I were in the neighborhood.

Love that this restaurant in our small town has a new owner. Huge difference in food quality and customer service! Fantastic food, great price and friendly staff. Everything is wonderful off their menu especially the green chili!!

We ended up here to meet some friends we hadn't seen in years and it was great! The food was amazing and with this place being the oldest cafe in Colorado bragging gun shot holes in the ceiling and tales of law men being shot in house, it made the breakfast tha much more interesting.

Authentic small town diner feel to the place. Me and my wife both had the Chicken burrito. It was just ok. Nothing special. It would have been better except it was a little cold.

Food is good but service is slow. Last time we waited 15min to get menus, then another 20min wait for our order to taken before we left.
